WXYC 10.10.10 10am-1pm Orange County Special: Kentucky Special

A special survey of traditional music of Kentucky, with guest, folklorist (and KY native) Lora Smith, as well as call-in guest, Eastern Kentucky musician Brett Ratliff.

Hear all of your favorite traditional Kentucky artists like Roscoe, Loretta, and D-wight, and also learn about some new ones, like Molly O'Day, who beat Earl Scruggs in a London, KY banjo contest (though he denies it), and Alfred Karnes, who made recording history by being the first person to be recorded by Ralph Peer at the Bristol Sessions. WOW!

You will also hear musical representations of the three reasons why we think Kentucky is great: horses, bourbon, and wild women.
